Upperspace Announces Release of Instant Deck Design
Software for Planning and Designing Decks

PRYOR, Okla. – February 26, 2001 – Upperspace Corp. today announced the release of Instant Deck Design a new 2D/3D deck design program easy enough for any homeowner and detailed enough for any builder to use.

Upperspace Corporation has announced the release of Instant Deck Design. Instant Deck Design provides high-performance 2D and 3D drawing wizards for easy deck design. With a street price in the $20 range, Instant Deck Design features more than 30 detailed deck drawings, 2D and 3D drawing wizards, a material list, and a full selection of CAD tools for personalizing deck designs. Instant Deck Design gives builders and contractors expedient design results that are automatically scaled and dimensioned, and because it’s easy to use Instant Deck Design offers homeowners the freedom to design their own deck regardless of their construction experience.

The 2D and 3D Deck Wizards feature more than 30 detailed deck drawings for instant deck design. A user simply goes to the Deck Wizard, specifies a 2D deck or a 3D deck and then chooses the design they desire. The wizard steps them through the entire building process. They choose the post size, deck width, height, depth, and the type of decking they want to use. Then Instant Deck Design automatically draws the deck. 3D decks can be shaded so they look like real lumber. 3-dimensional deck designs keep the designer apprised of all views of the deck. A front, top, and side elevation is displayed along with the main 3D perspective view. This allows users to view the design from all angles in virtual reality.

The design and drafting tools in Instant Deck Design are based off the award-winning program, DesignCAD. Any deck designed, whether it’s a 2-dimensional deck or a 3-dimensional deck, can be personalized using the easy-to-use drawing tools. Any user who wants to take advantage of the CAD (computer-aided design) functions in Instant Deck Design can use them to draw a deck from scratch or modify any deck created using the wizard.

• Instant Deck Design’s drawing features include many snap modes which can substantially speed up the drawing process for anyone who chooses to design a deck from scratch or to personalize a deck.
  
• Several dimension commands are included to fit any dimensioning need. Dimensions automatically update themselves with any changes to the design. A Quick Edit box is displayed to make it even easier to change dimensions and specifications.
  
• More than 30 hatch patterns are included.
  
• Complex computations such as calculating square footage or finding the center of gravity can be performed on any object. Objects can be edited with a variety of commands including trim, scale, fillet, and chamfer.
  
• Instant Deck Design supports input and output of AutoCAD 2000 drawings in both DWG and DXF file formats.
  
• Instant Deck Design’s ‘Print Deck’ command will automatically tile a top/front/side/perspective view of your deck and print it to any Windows printer.

Instant Deck Design comes with more than 30 symbols for furnishing a deck. Symbols include pretty much anything someone would want to embellish a deck design. There are symbols for BBQ grills, spiral staircases, a wet bar, planters, potted plants, patio furniture, benches, and even hot tubs.

Instant Deck Design also supports a material list of each piece of lumber. This material list can be exported to Instant Estimator where you can assign prices to each object and get an accurate cost of building the deck.

Instant Deck Design supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Millennium, Windows NT 4.0, and Windows 2000 systems. It is available through computer and software dealers worldwide and has a street price of around $20.

Instant Deck Design is the sixth member of the Instant family of programs by Upperspace. "We’re developing a complete line of Instant programs that people can purchase from retail stores in the twenty dollar price range. Upperspace was incorporated in March 2000. It is composed of the original developers of DesignCAD software formally sold by ViaGrafix/Learn2.com. DesignCAD software has been offering CAD designers all around the world software with a powerful price/performance ratio since 1983. On June 24^th, 2000, DesignCAD 3000 was released followed by the release of DesignCAD Express on August 21^st, 2000. Instant Architect and Instant Engineer were released September 15^th, 2000. Instant Estimator was released November 1^st, 2000 followed by the releases of Instant Web Page and Instant Modeler in early 2001.
