OPEN DWG/DXF FILES
DesignCAD is a member of the founding movement for the
OpenDWG Alliance. The latest version, DesignCAD 3D Max PLUS will open
all versions of AutoCAD files. Here’s how - Have a blank new file in
the window. From the File menu use the Import command. Then select the
file you want to import.
You can also export files in the DWG or DXF formats.
From the File menu select the Export command. From the Save as Type
field at the bottom of the Export File dialog box, select the format
you want to use. As prompted, select the version you want to export
to.
STEP SIZE
Set the cursor step size
so you can quickly design using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
This makes it easy to move the cursor a set distance using any of
the arrow keys.
To set it up, open
the Options menu > Options command. Go to the General tab. Adjust
the Large and Small Step sizes for the distance you want the cursor
to move. Large step is for pressing any arrow key,
çèéê.
Small step is a smaller distance moved when you press the Shift key
in tandem with the arrow key for direction.
SET VIEW
DesignCAD’s Set View command
is commonly used to “swing the drawing around in 3D space” to let you
view your model at different angles. When you use the Set View
command to rotate your model, you are not really rotating the drawing
itself; you are changing the horizontal and vertical angle at which
the 3D object is being viewed. When this rotation takes place, it does
so around the view center, which is a single, invisible point, usually
located at the origin.
DRAW WITH DOUBLE
LINES
You can click on the Double-line
Tool in the main Toolbar, (directly beneath the menu bar), to
automatically offset any line, curve, or arc drawn. This is a super
handy tool to draw walls. Be sure to turn on the Double line toolbox
for access to all of the options.

INTERESTED IN 2D DRAFTING & DESIGN?
You can
test all the 2D features in DesignCAD 3D Max Plus and they will be the
exact same in our DesignCAD Express program.
DesignCAD
Express offers 2D drafting and design without the 3D solid modeling.
Its 2D design features are the exact same as those in DesignCAD 3D Max
Plus.
There is a
2D/3D toggle button in DesignCAD 3D Max Plus. It's a button on the top
toolbar with "2D" on it. Clicking this button switches between 2D mode
and 3D mode.
